The Shark Gentle Glide electric iron from
Euro-Pro offers an array of adjustable features for smoothing stubborn wrinkles
out of clothing, linens, and household items. Fitted with a polished
stainless-steel soleplate for traveling smoothly over fabric, the 1300-watt iron
includes a spray function, variable steam, and burst of steam. A wide-ranging
temperature dial handles everything from synthetics to linen and is easy to set.
As a helpful safety feature, the iron includes automatic shut-off, triggered if
the device is left on its soleplate, side, or heel. The non-slip handle is
comfortable, the water reservoir is ample, and the power cord swivels--though a
bit stubbornly--for right or left-handed use. The design also includes a
self-cleaning feature, helpful for reducing calcium deposits inside. The Shark
cuts a few minor corners, including the size of the soleplate and the
less-than-sturdy cover for the water hatch. Altogether, though, it's a useful
and user-friendly model. The soleplate measures 4-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches.
